1. to finally agree to what someone wants, after refusing for a period of time

일정 기간 거부한 후에 마침내 누군가가 원하는 것에 동의하다

 

ex)

He nagged me so much for a new bike that eventually I gave in.

그가 나에게 새 자전거를 사달라고 너무나 잔소리를 해서 결국 내가 항복했다.

 

 

2. to accept that you have been defeated and agree to stop competing or fighting

자신이 패배했다는 사실을 받아들이고 경쟁이나 싸움을 중단하기로 동의하다

 

ex)

She wouldn't give in until she received a full apology.

그녀는 완전한 사과를 받기 전까지는 포기하지 않을 것입니다.

 

 

 

1. If you 'give in', you admit that you are defeated or that you cannot do something.

'give in'한다는 것은 자신이 패배했거나 무언가를 할 수 없다는 것을 인정하는 것입니다.

 

ex)

All right. I give in. What did you do with the ship?

좋아요. 항복합니다. 배는 어떻게 했습니까?

 

 

2. If you 'give in', you agree to do something that you do not want to do.

'give in'이란, 하고 싶지 않은 일을 하는 데 동의하는 것을 의미합니다.

 

ex)

Officials say they won't give in to the workers' demands.

공무원들은 노동자들의 요구에 굴복하지 않을 것이라고 말했다.

 

 

 

1. to finally agree to do or accept something that you had at first opposed, especially because someone has forced or persuaded you to

특히 누군가가 당신을 강요하거나 설득했기 때문에 처음에 반대했던 일을 마침내 하기로 동의하거나 받아들이는 것

 

ex)

Eventually I gave in and accepted the job on their terms.

결국 나는 항복하고 그들의 조건에 따라 일을 받아들였습니다.

 

 

2. to accept that you are defeated in a game, fight, competition etc

게임, 싸움, 경쟁 등에서 패배했다는 사실을 받아들이다

 

ex)

The rebels were eventually forced to give in.

반군은 결국 항복을 강요당했다.
